According to the Chinese 2013 will be the year of the snake. I tend to trust the Chinese on matters such as these but I decided to see whether there is a chance that it could be the year of something else.
What about the year of the outdoor furniture cushions? It might not have the same ring to it as the year of the snake but I think it is time that we all got outside more. Of course, the big problem is finding somewhere comfy to sit down. 2013 could be the year in which more of us go out to watch butterflies, to marvel at the stars and to make greasy big hamburgers. It’s got to be worth a try.
What about the year of the bunk bed with desk? Ever since I was a kid I have always wanted a bunk bed and ever since I worked in a bank I have always wanted my own desk. I am sure that I am not alone in wanting these things and next year we can all get them if we really want to.
Could it be the year of the Josef Seibel sandals? I don’t know, to be honest. My knowledge of the world of open toed footwear is less comprehensive than you could possibly imagine. I love the freedom of sandals but I can’t predict which brand will knock the snake off its perch in 2013.
What about the year of Chinese antiques? I am a big fan of Chinese antiques and my house is literally filled with Ming dynasty vases and Qing era err stuff. Ok, so I wouldn’t know a Ming vase if I knocked one over but I do love the idea of getting a load of Chinese antiques. The only problems are that they don’t sell them here and they are probably far too expensive. Now, if the world’s antiques dealers could only drop the prices of their goods and start to sell them in small, provincial towns in underdeveloped countries I could see it really being their year.
