The future sounds like a scary kind of time, doesn’t it? We’ll probably all need to learn how to deal with robots and handle flying cars. We’ll probably need to change jobs as well, now that old fashioned stuff like banks, shops and offices won’t exist anymore. So what will be working in when 2030 comes along? I just read that a couple will be sent to Mars in 2018. It’s all arranged it seems and the trip of 140 million miles will involve a flyby of the red planet but no time on the surface. I quite like the idea of a lovely little trip to my favourite planet in our solar system and all I need to do is convince my wife to put our names forward. After that, it.

Some things in life just drive you crazy, don’t they? In my case, there are a lot of things which do this and if I think about it I am sure that there are a lot more out there which I just haven’t come across yet. I haven’t ever had serious problems with electric fireplaces so far. However, I can’t rule out this happening in the future. Meanwhile, I’ll just need to make do with.

The fact that there is a papal vacancy wouldn’t normally interest me too much. However, I had a strange dream last night in which I was the Pope. I ended up hiding in an old suitcase for some reason but leaving aside this bizarre end to the dream it made me wonder whether I could be the pontiff after all. I would enjoy the challenge of leading the millions of worldwide followers of my faith.

Have you ever woken up from a dream which was so lifelike that you didn’t really know whether it had actually happened or not?This has happened to me a few times and I even had to check the results of the 1990 World Cup final once in case I had actually scored the winner for Scotland against Brazil.
