What a hot day it is today. To be honest, I have been burning up for the last week or so, which is pretty strange at this festive time of year.
We seem to be in the middle of a heatwave and a drought at the same time, which isn’t quite as exciting as it might sound. Anyway, I decided to have a look for some ideas to cool me down.
I could look for pergola designs to give me some shade I suppose. There is an old tree in our garden which offers about 4mm of shade at midday and doesn’t really come in all that handy. I have always liked the sound of a pergola in the garden and maybe I could lie down and grab a quick siesta when it gets too hot for me.
Using Christmas trees to give me some shade seems like a ludicrous idea, doesn’t it? Well, it probably does if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. To me Christmas is still about frozen noses, big gloves and hoping that the school’s heating system breaks down so that we all get sent home. Now that I live on the other side of the world from where I grew up it is about shorts, 3 showers a day and hoping that you don’t run out of chilled fruit juice.
Could I use water fountains outdoor in the garden? Your darn tooting I could. My little girl loves to see water splashing around and she hasn’t seen an awful lot of it lately. I would probably jump into it if I am being honest.
Actually, in the last couple of minutes it started to rain really heavily but it is too late to change what I have already written. Never mind, I’ll just need to look for something to protect me from the rain now. We’ve got an old animal kennel in the garage that no one knows where it came from. It smells a bit but I guess it would keep me dry until the next drought.
